
Josh Lisner is a conductor, educator, and tenor based in Princeton, New Jersey.
Josh Lisner is a conductor, educator, and tenor known for his passion, artistry, and commitment to excellence. As Director of Choirs and Vocal Music at Edison High School in Edison, NJ, he leads a nationally recognized program serving over 180 students annually. His ensembles have earned Best-in-Class honors at major festivals and performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Lisner has collaborated with leading artists such as Eric Whitacre, Donald Nally, and Reena Esmail, and co-founded the Edison Township Choral Festival, uniting over 350 singers from rival schools and the broader community.
A summa cum laude graduate of Westminster Choir College, Lisner studied conducting, pedagogy, and rehearsal technique while performing with elite ensembles like the Westminster Choir, Westminster Kantorei, and the Grammy®-nominated Westminster Williamson Voices. He is currently a Conducting Fellow with Princeton Pro Musica and a participant in the International Conductor Training Program at Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where he has led performances of works by Bach, Haydn, and Mozart.
As a tenor, Lisner performs throughout the East Coast and internationally. He is a member of the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, regularly singing under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin in major symphonic works. Notable performances include Verdi’s Requiem with Riccardo Muti, the world premiere of The Hours with Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a Grammy® Award-winning appearance in Netflix’s Maestro, collaborating with Bradley Cooper, Joe Miller, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
